Sonja joined Wake Forest University in May 2024. She currently serves as the Director of Clery Compliance for Wake Forest University and Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Blea has 20 years’ experience in Risk and Emergency Management and Clery Compliance. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in criminal justice with an emphasis in criminology in 2021 and is currently working on her master’s degree in public administration.
Blea understands the importance of providing support to fellow team members and has worked to broaden her skills by completing the Fire Inspector I course through the International Fire Service Training Association and the Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office and completed OSHA’s Hazmat training. She has also completed many training courses through FEMA and TEEX. She is always eager to develop her skills in related fields, so she is prepared to provide support when needed.
Her love of sports led her to serve on the Arizona Organization Committee, which organized and worked major events in the Phoenix area, such as the Fiesta Bowl, 2015 Super Bowl, 2016 College Football Championship, 2017 NCAA Final Four, among others. She loves outdoor sports, hiking, and time at the beach. However, her true passion is serving others. She lived overseas for 10 years, coordinating logistics and serving as translator for U.S. law enforcement and retired military personnel as they trained their counterparts and sister agencies around the world.
