The Wake Forest University Police Department regularly provides free training to students, faculty, and staff on safety and wellbeing issues. Topics include general safety, self-defense, responding to an active act of violence, and more.

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) is a comprehensive self-defense course designed for women which combines physical techniques and common-sense crime prevention methods. In partnership with Health & Exercise Science, RAD is offered as an accredited class here at Wake Forest.

In the event of an active shooter situation, your safety and the safety of those around you are of utmost importance. This training video is designed to equip the Wake Forest University community with the knowledge and tools necessary to respond effectively in such a crisis. By being informed and prepared, we can work together to enhance our campus safety.

One of the most frightening situations that can occur on a college campus is dealing with an active shooter. An active shooter is a person who is actively threatening lives or prepared to threaten lives in a populated area. Watch the video below to learn more about surviving an active shooter event.

The Wake Forest University Police Department offers community members the opportunity to ride along with a police officer during their normal duties. Ride-along requests will not be honored on days when there is a high-profile event or similar impact on the department.

The overall goal of the Citizens’ Police Academy is that community members gain insight into the daily functions and responsibilities of the department and its personnel to improve police and community interaction.
