Employees of the Wake Forest University Police Department are held to the highest standards. Our goal is to embody our values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Compassion. The department will investigate all complaints. You may remain anonymous; however, allowing investigators to contact you will allow them to gain your perspective and follow-up with you regarding the status and outcome of your complaint. 

Complaint Procedures:

  • Complaints may be made in person, over the phone, or in writing using the form below.
  • Upon receipt of a complaint, the Chief of Police will assign the complaint to either a supervisor or the Professional Standards Officer for an internal investigation.
  • If the complaint can be resolved by explaining policy or procedures or through an explanation of the events that took place, it may be handled as an inquiry with no further action being taken.
  • If an internal affairs investigation, the employee in question will receive a copy of the complaint and be afforded their legal rights as afforded by University policy and Garrity v. New Jersey (1967).
  • If the complainant identifies themselves, they will receive a status update every 15 days and a final disposition of the complaint. Personnel actions are confidential and will not be divulged as part of the disposition.
