Detective Ted Johnson gained his first experience in campus law enforcement as a Student Patrol Officer for his undergraduate Alma Mater, North Carolina State University. After college, he spent several years as a reserve officer for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office as a bloodhound handler on the Search & Rescue team before joining the department full time. During his years as a deputy sheriff, he worked in the patrol division, school resource officer, and on the sex offender registry. He came to WFUPD in 2009 and was promoted to Detective in 2011. He has won the Community Policing and Commitment to Excellence Award twice, as well as the Best Team Player Award, Top Cop, and others.

When he is not at WFU, Ted enjoys working his organic farm with his wife and kids.
