This award is given once a year for the following criteria:
- Devotion to Duty: Through unselfish devotion to duty, has contributed significant service to the Police department and University community.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrates outstanding judgment, courage, or ability in emergency situations.
- Dealing with Co-Workers: Individual consistently displayed a positive attitude towards other department members and continuously strives to enhance the professional relationship and well being of all members.

Community Policing and Commitment to Excellence
This award is given once a year for the following criteria:
- Takes initiative in their work, often going above and beyond what is required.
- Dedicated, aware and approaches their duties with a “can-do” attitude and a case-by-case problem-solving method that goes well beyond traditional reactionary policing.
- Innovates effective problem-oriented policing projects to improve relationships between students, faculty and staff, assist the WFU PD in gathering information, and provide a safe environment for study and work.
